Hi, I’m Sushant Verma, founder of rat[LAB]EDUCATION.
I’m an architect and educator. After working in London and Los Angeles, I returned to India and set up rat[LAB] Studio in New Delhi.
Through practice and teaching, I saw how a gap in technical skills could hold back a designer’s ideas. You could imagine something ambitious, yet struggle to develop it because you didn’t know how to use the tools.
For many architects, learning advanced design technology also felt like something that required a master’s degree. I wanted to create a structured way to develop those skills through guided learning.
That led to smartLABS: a six-month hybrid program bringing computational design, AI workflows, advanced architectural design and digital fabrication into one learning journey.
We built it around live sessions, guided assignments and expert tutors from across the globe. The aim is to help you understand the tools and use them to make better design decisions.
Over more than a decade, our education work has reached more than 3,000 architects and designers through 200+ workshops. Over nine years, smartLABS has helped more than 270 graduates develop their skills, with alumni progressing in professional practice and academia.
I continue this work because I’m passionate about helping designers find the right path to upskill, and gain the confidence to develop ideas that once felt beyond their abilities.
